Who we are - open and nonprofit
COMPPRESS has been a registered nonprofit association since the end of 2020 and is committed to strengthening democratic processes and civil society. Our focus is on promoting high-quality journalism, which we believe is the main pillar of our democratic state.
COMPPRESS e.V. was founded by a small team that works on the idea part-time alongside their day jobs. We are made up of people with different professional and technical backgrounds - united in doing charitable work.

§ 2 Purpose of the association
The association pursues exclusively and immediately charitable purposes within the scope of the German Tax Code Chapter “Tax-Privileged Purposes”.
The purpose of the association is to promote:
- national education,
- the democratic state within the scope of the Tax Code.
How we are designed – our organization
If, like us, you are interested in charitable work, then at COMPPRESS you’ve come to the right place!
Members’ participation in decisions regarding the development of the COMPPRESS association will be organized on a grassroots basis. In the early stages of the association, however, the decision-making powers will initially be concentrated in order to ensure stability and effectiveness in the newly created structures. With an increasing number of members, and therefore stability, decisions will increasingly be made on a grassroots basis, with the aim of creating a completely democratic organization.

How we finance ourselves - transparently
COMPPRESS places an emphasis on its independence and charitable status.
This means that in order to finance and further develop the app and its backend structure, the project relies on donations and, if necessary, funding programs during the development and growth phases. However, as membership numbers increase, the amount of donations allowed will be reduced - in future, we will seek to fund ourselves exclusively through membership fees. This should create maximum independence and ensure that the members of COMPPRESS can democratically decide how the app and the association will grow democratically.
